Arburg presents its high temperature Freeformer 300-3X

Arburg showcased their high temperature Freeformer 300-3X, which processed medically approved PEEK to produce cranial implants at Formnext 2021. The machine’s build chamber can be heated to 200 ° C and the plastic up to 450 ° C. ° C. The company claims that the process The quality of medical technology products and other components important to safety can be reliably documented and tracked 100% using the “ProcessLog” customer portal application. In addition to the Freeformer exhibitions in Arburg, the innovatiQ portfolio was also on display at the stand. From December 1, the two divisions will be merged under the management of Victor Roman into a new subsidiary, Arburgadditive GmbH + Co KG.

At Fakuma 2021, Arburg showed that the Freeformer 300-3X can produce functional components from Ultem 9085. This original PEI / PC blend is approved for aerospace applications. The Freeformer specially designed for high temperature applications uses Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) to produce functional components from Ultem 9085. The material line for the APF process includes polyetherimide (PEI) based materials such as Ultem 1010, medically approved Ultem 1004, and Ultem 9085. Optimized temperature management provides the necessary cooling of the system, especially for axis drives, which position the workpiece carrier with an accuracy of 0.022 mm along the x axes, y and z.
