Technology exists to make our working lives a little easier. However, when department heads and their teams are too comfortable with the old way of doing business in a familiar model or process, it is never easy to convince them to adapt to the latest infrastructure. once.

1. IS THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE PERSONALIZED?

As a business leader, it’s always important to ensure that each customer’s experience is hyper-personalized, as this sets them up for short- and long-term success. Engage your “difficult customers” first. Make a shortlist of people in your organization who are both influential and known to be squeaky cogs for change. Invite them to preview the technology and ask for their feedback on the product and its deployment. Education on how digital transformation will help solve problems for employees and team members is essential. For staff to embrace something new, it must be relevant and beneficial to them. Otherwise, learning a new product or tool seems like a daunting task. Many technology solutions can be sold as the “definitive ticket” and the “golden ticket” for increased productivity and reduced costs. Network with peers and see what their thoughts and suggestions are and what they used. 6. IS THE PLATFORM FRIENDLY FOR MULTIPLE LEARNING?

If you’ve seen the new technology on display a million times, it might seem easy to use. But, for your team, this may be the first time they’ve seen it. As we all learn differently, be sure to offer lots of ways to teach new technology (e.g. slides and videos) and lead meetings where everyone can learn to use it together, solving team problems. Embracing technology may come naturally to many people, but not so much to others. For companies to get everyone on board with new technologies, I suggest incorporating an element of creativity and play into the learning process. 9. HOW DO YOU ENCOURAGE AN OPEN MINDSET?

By instilling an adaptive and open mindset within the team, you will cross boundaries in terms of technology adoption. Technology will always change, and eventually our business needs will change as well. Our current needs may not match the technology we will have in 2-3 years. When deploying new technology within your business, strategically select people at different levels of the organization to be part of the process. Listen to their needs during the evaluation phase and ask them to test new technology before it is deployed. Drink from our own fountain. As a sales training company, we use a learning management system and use a combination of on-demand video, live coaching and training to teach our clients. Get new technology or software, build a course around it, and use the same methodology to onboard your own team. 12. HAVE YOU INVESTED IN EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE?

People embrace changes because they are easy to understand and have a perceived value associated with them. The “why” is much more important than the “what”. Explain to your employees why they will personally benefit from adopting this new tool or process. 13. ARE YOU DEDICATED TO CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AUTOMATION?

Start small. I founded a customer experience automation (CXA) company and I always recommend that clients who are new to automation commit 20 minutes a week to it. Think about what could be automated for your business and set up one automation at a time. Too often with technology people want to dive in, but it seems daunting. 14. HAVE YOU CREATED A TIMETABLE FOR THE TRANSITION?

Getting your team to adopt new technology becomes easier when it becomes the only choice available to people. That doesn’t mean you force team members to switch to new tools. Instead, create a timeline for when all the work transitions to new tools. This gives people enough time to get a feel for how the new process works. 15. ARE YOU MOVING TOO FAST?

Go slowly. To get started, identify the top issues in your business. Over a period of several weeks, you will likely be able to identify the main issues you are facing. From there, search for the best SaaS solution to solve this key problem. Be sure to consider implementation and team buy-in. Once ready, move on to implementation. 16. ARE YOU A GOOD ROLE MODEL?

Model the adoption behavior of new technologies. Try to use new toolsets in the context of your own day-to-day activities, because the more your team sees you doing what you adopt, the better.
