As we watch and experience an ever-changing world, I can’t help but wonder what is the solution to pollution? It seems to me that the things we depend on most fail us. We continue to have a divided government and a racial divide. The Covid pandemic continues to negatively affect us in many ways.
However, the first and most dynamic institution created by God was the family. In the first two chapters of Genesis, we find that God made man in his image, in his likeness, and let him rule over the earth and all that was in it. Over time, God realized that his creation, Adam, needed a help, a friend and, therefore, He gave him a partner for life. From the rib of Adam, God made a woman so that she could reproduce and start what we call the family. Everything was going well until the fallen angel, Lucifer, now called the devil, came to earth and began to change the world forever.
Above all, we must continually pray for the family unit. It starts with the husband and wife. “For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother, and will be attached to his wife; and they will both be one flesh? 6Therefore they are no longer two, but one flesh. What God has therefore united, let not man separate ”(Matthew 19: 5-6). It is said that a family that prays together stays together. Husbands and wives must learn to love each other in the most difficult situations.
Then we must pray that the man will take his rightful place as head of his house. He is the leader, and must lead not only by what he says, but by example. God first created man and gave him great responsibilities. What an honor to be a pious husband, father and head of his family.
In addition, the woman is fortunate to be a pious wife and mother. She completes her husband; she must encourage him. And what an honor it is to be a mother. “Submit to one another in the fear of God. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the Church, and he is the savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let wives be their own husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the Church and gave himself for her ”(Ephesians 5: 21-25).
Now more important than ever is the responsibility of parents to do their best to raise their children, the gift God has given them. “Teach a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22: 6). I honestly believe that there is nothing wrong in this world that cannot be changed if we only spend quality time with our children, regardless of their age. Too many children feel unloved, unwanted and confused about family and life.
It reminds me of the words of poet Maya Angelou who said, “People may forget what you said about them and what you did for them, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
The 100 Black Men Organization says this about our youth: “What they see is what they will be. “
I love the family lifestyle I grew up in which adheres to the saying “It takes a village to raise a child”. Yes, I was brought up by a village. More than ever, there is a need to make peace with one another beyond family, racial, religious, political affiliation and being the family that God has called us to be.
