Tony-nominated and Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck’s national tour What the Constitution means to me, directed by Oliver Butler, is relaunched September 30 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The stars of Cassie Beck.

Beck, seen on Broadway in The rose tattoo and Humans, was due to succeed Maria Dizzia on the national tour in June 2020, but the tour was temporarily halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cast also includes Mike Iveson of the original Broadway cast and nationwide tour, and high school students Jocelyn Shek and Emilyn Toffler alternating as the student debater. Jessica Savage and Gabriel Marin join the cast as liners.

“It’s exhilarating to come back to the cinema, and I can’t wait to welcome the audience again What the Constitution means to me,“Schreck said in a previous statement.” Cassie Beck is a brilliant actress and human being, and I am delighted that the American public has the opportunity to discover Constitution with her on stage. I am also grateful to everyone who worked so hard over the past year to make this tour back possible.

What the Constitution means to me runs through October 24 at the Guthrie before returning to Chicago from October 26 through November 21 at the Broadway Playhouse. Click here for the current route.

Schreck’s play was an Off-Broadway hit at the New York Theater Workshop in 2018 before moving to Broadway in 2019 and receiving two Tony nominations. After Broadway, What the Constitution means to me performed at the Eisenhower Theater at Kennedy Center as well as seated engagements in Los Angeles and Chicago.

Schreck’s Broadway performance was captured and released in October 2020 on Amazon Prime.

Manufacturing too characteristics scenography by Rachel Hauck (Hadestown), costume design by Michael Krass (Hadestown), lighting design by Jen Schriever (Eclipse), and sound design by Sinan Refik Zafar (Hamlet). The casting director is Taylor Williams and the production manager is Nicole Olson.

The national tour is produced by Diana DiMenna, Aaron Glick, Matt Ross and Level Forward & Eva Price.
