Is Israel still God’s chosen people today? | Religion

There is certainly a lot of confusion on this issue of Israel still being God’s chosen people. I’m here to tell you that, according to the word of God, they are not God’s chosen people today.

God rejected them during the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross of Calvary and then later, in a very provocative way, during the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70. Why do we have such a hard time understanding this fact? The Jews still believe that they are God’s chosen people and that at some point in the future temple worship and sacrifice will continue. The Jews have a large part of Christianity who believe this too because they influenced the church. The kingdom of Christ is the church. He did not fail in his mission on earth. Jesus will never establish a physical kingdom from Jerusalem to reign as king on the earth. Jesus reigns through his spiritual kingdom, the church. The influence of the church and Christianity is all over the world, so it rules the earth through the church.

The Jews were once God’s chosen people in that the Messiah would come from their lineage. God protected them as a nation as long as they were loyal to him. When Israel turned to idolatry, God delivered Israel into captivity.

First, the northern tribe was taken captive by Syria and dispersed throughout the known world in 722 BC. Later, Judah was also taken captive to Babylon in 586 BC. After that, Israel never really became a nation again. Israel passed from the Babylonian captivity to the captivity of the Medes and Persians. A remnant were allowed to return to the homeland to rebuild the temple and the city. Later, under Alexander the Great, they were conquered, then Rome entered and controlled Israel. Israel was destroyed as a nation, and the religious practice of the Jewish faith, the Law of Moses, was destroyed by Rome in AD 70. From what I understand, all lineage records have been destroyed, so there is no positive evidence of being a descendant of the 12 tribes of Israel. Israel went from AD 70 to 1948 scattered all over the land, when one of the last decrees of the British Empire reestablished Israel as a nation on a tiny piece of property in Palestine. Israel will never stand up again as the dominant nation of the earth. There are just a lot of Bible misunderstandings and misconceptions of Jews trying to revert to their original practice under the Old Covenant.

Christians are God’s chosen people today and tomorrow. There are many verses that teach this and prove this point.

We will begin in the book of Hebrews 8: 6-8: “But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. Because if this first alliance had been flawless, then no place would have been sought for the second. Because he reproached them, he said: Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, in which I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: »… verse 13« In so far as he said, “A new covenant,” He made the first old one. Now, what breaks down and ages is ready to go. “

The book of Hebrews was written around AD 64 and a few years later, around six years later, in AD 70, the old covenant will cease to be practiced forever.

The apostle Peter says much about Christians in his writings, “chosen of God and precious,” I Peter 2: 4. “You too, like living stones, have been built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices pleasing to God through Jesus Christ”, I Peter 2: 5.

Later in the same chapter, 2: 9-10, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a special people; so that you may express the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: who once was not a people, but who are now the people of God: who has not obtained mercy, but has now obtained mercy . “

In these verses, Peter talks about Christians. Christians or believers are the elect of God. Christians are the elected generation, the royal priesthood, a holy nation, a special people. Peter wrote to the church or to Christians scattered across Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia.

The apostle John writes to the seven churches revealing the elevated status of Christians here on this earth and in heaven before Almighty God.

“And made us kings and priests to God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen ”, Revelation 1: 6.

Again in Revelation 5:10, “And made us kings and priests to our God, and we will reign on the earth.”

As Christians we are represented as kings and priests before God. An Old Covenant priest was a position of honor and this represented an enormous responsibility before God as a priest performing his duties in the temple. We are kings in this present life as Christians; we represent God on earth. Imagine what the world would be like without Christian influence. All governments on earth fear Christians. We are the only group of people who can resist the corruption of government leaders. Christians hold the moral standard for the world. The evil powers hate us and try to eliminate Christianity and minimize our influence. We have the royal blood of God flowing in our veins. We rule the earth in what we deem the terrible evil and immorality happening all around us in the world. We must have the courage to stand up for what is right and stand up for the helpless, even if it means our own physical life. Life will continue for us in the spiritual realm. We have become weak in our representation of God because we seem to ignore the evils of the world. Christianity has become silent, it seems. Look at all the evil that is happening here in our homeland. I apply this message to myself too. We must stay with God and not let ourselves be weakened and our faith weakened. We cannot compromise with the devil. The Jews are God’s chosen people, but only if they are included in Christianity. They have to accept Jesus Christ. So they are our brothers and sisters.
