Kolb to Conduct Mohawk Valley Choral Society Spring Concert

UTICA – The Mohawk Valley Choral Society continues its 40th year of bringing exciting choral music to the Mohawk Valley by welcoming David Kolb to its podium as guest conductor for its May concert, “Songs of Light and Love” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, 2222 Genesee St., Utica.

Kolb has been an active singer and choir director in the Utica area for nearly 20 years. He is the musical director of the First Presbyterian Church in Rome. He also conducted the Utica College Choir as well as the Utica Maennerchor.

He has been a soloist with the Mohawk Valley Choral Society, the Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale, and the Oneida Area Civic Chorale.

In “Songs of Light and Love,” Kolb will lead the choir in a series of individual choral pieces, both a cappella and accompanied, spanning the 16th to 21st centuries.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets can be obtained from any choir member, Center Stage Pianos in New Hartford, Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts in Little Falls, or Weisser’s Jewelers in Herkimer.
