KP Oli blocked my proposal to amend the constitution: Maoist Chairman Prachanda

KATMANDU: Chairman of the Maoist CPN-Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the constitution cannot be amended due to the chairman of CPN-UML, KP Sharma Oli.

He added that the UML president blocked a proposal he passed on to parliament that would have amended the constitution to guarantee the rights of women, children, Muslims and Madhesis. He also described UML President Oli as an anti-Madhesi villain during a program held on Saturday in Katahariya in Rautahat.

He said: “When I became Prime Minister for the second time, I presented to the House of Representatives a proposal to amend the constitution to empower Madhesi, women and children, the oppressed community and the marginalized. However, anti-constitutional, anti-republic, anti-secular, anti-Madhesi Oli blocked the proposal.

On this occasion, Prachana said that the CPN-Maoist is likely to become the number one party again. He said the Maoist party would be number one this time as well as in 2007. He added that he would take the initiative to operate the Shri Ram sugar mill in Rautahat, which is currently closed, and build an embankment to control the Bakaiya Bagmati River.

He also said that he would take the initiative to solve the problem of the sugar cane farmers and try to keep the Nisach community of Madhes in a community specially protected for their identity. He also announced that he would take the initiative to create a Muslim university at the request of the Muslim community.
