Roma (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy and Cyprus
Duong Hai Hung praised the great contributions of Overseas Vietnamese (VO) from Cyprus to the homeland during a recent meeting with the Vietnamese community here.

Ambassador Hung stressed that the Vietnamese community in Cyprus is an integral part of the Vietnamese nation and contributes significantly to the construction, development and defense of the country.

He applauded the community’s solidarity and positive contributions over the past few years, especially for protection of citizens, charitable activities and prevention of COVID-19; and their efforts to promote Vietnam’s image in Cyprus.

He expressed his hope that Vietnamese expatriates living, working and studying in Cyprus will continue to uphold the culture and tradition of the nation and make more contributions to the development of the host country and the homeland, thus helping to promote relations. Vietnam-Cyprus.

On the occasion, the diplomat presented the certificate of merit from the State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the board of the community, and that of the embassy to people who have made achievements in the protection of citizens and charitable work in Cyprus.

Addressing the event, Vietnam’s Honorary Consul in Cyprus George Christophides pledged to always accompany the Vietnamese community in all activities and coordinate with the Embassy to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese workers in the country.

Around 5,000 Vietnamese expatriates live, work and study in Cyprus. They have implemented many activities to assert Vietnam’s sovereignty over the seas and islands, and to help promote Vietnamese culture in the country./.
